This prevention/intervention program helps to stop the cycle of child abuse & neglect while also providing development assessments and a therapeutic nursery/preschool environment for children ages six weeks through five years. The Family Relief Nursery provides skills training, respite care, and home visits to assist families in re-establishing a safe, caring home environment.

Intern/Practicum Student (Early Childhood Education)

Duties:

Assist classroom teachers in providing daily care, education and recreation of children, providing emergent, child-directed, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for children.
Encourage positive guidance and behavior management practices for children.
Assist teachers with the assessment of children using various tools in order to determine developmental needs and interests.

Qualifications:

Requires the ability to work sensitively and non-judgmentally with parents and children at risk for abuse and neglect.
Strong interpersonal skills
Basic knowledge of child development and of child abuse indicators
Beginning classroom management and good problem solving skills.

Note: This intern/practicum position is best suited for a student in their second year of early childhood education training.

Day/Hour: M, T, W, Th 10:00am-1:00pm

Commitment: We ask for a 3 month commitment with a minimum of 2 hours per week.

Classroom Assistant – Multiple Positions Available

Duties:

Using developmentally appropriate methods for small groups of children aged 6 weeks to 5 years
Interacting w/ children and helping with meals (set-up, clean up, serving)
Shadowing a child who needs more one on one, laundry, clean-up, folding clothing donations, etc.)
