Parenting Program

parent and childThe Parenting Program provides individual and group support to over 400 families each year who are referred by the Oregon Department of Human Services/Child Welfare due to child abuse or neglect. Participants learn to foster stronger families and safer communities for their children.

Sixty percent of participating families have lost their children to foster care. After attending two ten-week interactive educational modules, parents come away better equipped to take care of themselves, manage their families and with a greater likelihood of bringing the children back into their homes. The sessions cover topics such as communication skills, understanding addictions, understanding the connection between feelings and behavior, and how to reinforce positive actions.

Operating in parallel with the Parenting Program is the Alcohol and Drug Outreach program.  This program provides parents with drug abuse counseling and gives them the necessary emotional support and the on-going assistance necessary to make changes in their lives.
